JYSK is seeking a talented Category Manager to join our Buying team in Coquitlam, BC on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Category Manager, is responsible for developing product assortments using market trend analysis information as well as managing sales and margins. The position includes planning of flyers and campaigns, contract negotiations, inventory management, sales planning, forecasting and close coordination with the merchandising and operations teams.

The Right Candidate has:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Category Buying/ordering/forecasting capacity
  • Advanced Excel skills and database knowledge with the ability to create reports and analyze statistics (V-Look ups, Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.)
  • Is a self motivated individual, who is able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrates excellent teamwork, team-building, and project coordination skills
  • Builds and maintains lasting relationships with key internal/external business partners.
  • Is Adaptable and able to work in an environment with conflicting and changing priorities
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

As a Category Manager at JYSK, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out optimal preparation for every single campaign, from signing on to campaign start
  • Requesting photo-samples to the advertising department in timely manner
  • Ensuring thorough proofreading for flyers, catalogues, newspapers, TV etc
  • Verifying all products are included in the campaign(s) or flyers
  • Making suggestions for the development of new assortment areas through attendance at range meetings and comp. shopping etc
  • The pricing and margin in your categories according to plan
  • Carrying out constant follow up of primary competitors concerning assortment and prices
  • Assisting in the managing of assortment range according to the accepted goals for number of products within each product group/Coding according to calendar
  • Managing product(s) within assigned product categories, ensuring on time delivery and continuous replacement of product to support Retail Store Operations
