The first Canadian JYSK store was opened in Coquitlam, BC in 1996. Today, JYSK operates 61 stores across Canada, including locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Québec.


JYSK Canada is currently seeking an experienced Magento 2 Developer to join our IT team, on a full-time basis. The position will be based in our head office in Coquitlam.

The Role:

The Magento 2 developer will continually develop and maintain our Magento 2 Enterprise platform. This role is part of the IT team and involves working very closely with our eCommerce team to improve and stabilize the JYSK Magento platform. 

The developer will be responsible for troubleshooting both front end and back end code and developing feature enhancements.

We are looking for a mature and experienced developer, having the ability to deliver stable code in a timely manner and who can work independently on projects.

The right candidate has, the below experience and qualifications:

  • 2- or 4-year degree in CS/Engineering or be self-taught with documented practical experience
  • 5+ years PHP, object-oriented programming, MVC applications, and web development experience
  • 5+ years professional eCommerce, Magento development experience
  • Experienced in Magento 2 code structure, extension architecture, theming hierarchy, and fallback components
  • Expertise in authoring and extending Magento extensions
  • Proficient with Magento 2 APIs (REST, GraphQL)
  • Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Thorough understanding of database concepts and principles (specifically with exposure to MySQL)
  • Knowledge of UNIX type operating systems (preferably Linux)
  • Source control with Git
  • Understanding of continuous integration
  • Zend Framework experience
  • Excellent organization and time-management abilities
  • An active interest in current eCommerce trends and technologies
  • Hands on experience with rich web front end development – CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Responsive, PWA among others
  • Knowledgeable of server and system administration best practices
  • Familiarity with the Agile development processes, including the use of coding standards and systems for version control, build, regression testing
  • Require minimal supervision and provide oversight for assigned projects
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills

Experience and qualifications that would be considered an asset:

  • Magento 2 Developer/Developer Plus Certification
  • eCommerce platform experience (Hybris, Elastic Path, Digital River)
  • CMS experience (AEM, Drupal)
  • Advanced PHP and Java
  • .NET Experience
